How Can Hospital Websites Educate the Public?

HOSPITAL WEBSITE VIEWERS DEMAND EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS
MDTV Medical News Now, Inc (4u2c.tv) - Boonton, NJ 3/6/09
In December of 2008, Comscore came out with some new video numbers that continue to
show that video is the most viewed type of online content. We continually talk
to our clients about the importance of video, and how people are expecting video
when they go to a web site. Video is a powerful medium that allows customers to
have a more intimate connection with the hospital. Video testimonials from
patients and doctors is one way to use videos on a site, but also consider
putting therapy exercises and discharge instructions on your site as well. Also,
don’t just put it on your site, distribute it to the world. I hear that YouTube
may be a good place to post videos…

Some stats from the Comscore report:
- 77 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience viewed online video.
- The average online video viewer watched 274 minutes of video.
- More than 80 percent of the 18-34 year olds watched online video, higher
than any other age segment. The average 18-34 year old online video viewer
watched 4.8 hours of video during the month, also ranking above all other age
segments.
- 99.5 million viewers watched 5.3 billion videos on YouTube.com (53.2 videos
per viewer).
